- Flight to Bagdogra, Siliguri in West Bengal, India. OR
- One can also take train to NJP, Siliguri.
- Campsites –
- Base camp is Yuksom, Sikkim. 160km from Siliguri.
- Sachen – 7.5K, 6-7 hours, Tshoka Via Bakhim – 6.5Km, Tshoka to Dzongri via Phedang – 8.5Km
- Many trekkers only plan till Dzongri, go to Dzongri top from here and back to base camp
- Dzongri to Thansing via Kokchurang. Thansing to View Point 1 and/or 2 (Based on Trek permission) via Samiti Lake and return journey
- Highlights –
- The best trek trail I have ever experienced so far. Every day is different experience.
- Dzongri top, Kokchurang camp site and Kanchenjanga view were the most mesmerizing places ever visited
- Traditional millet beer – ” Chang” after trek at Yuksom
- Very famous for Rhododendrons in spring, we obviously missed due to autumn season.
- Lowlights
- Similar to any other Himalayan trek, physical fitness is mandatory due to long walks every day and longer trek duration
- Travel to Yumsom can be boring from Siliguri.
- Suitable Time Period
- Can be done in Spring (April-May) and Autumn (Sept-Oct). Trek route is generally closed during winters and inaccessible.

- Caution –
- Do not take this trek easy, fitness and drinking enough water during the trek is mandatory. In our group itself someone suffered and had to return back due to AMS. A year after there was also causality reported due to same reason.
- STAR Rating – 5/5 – Must do for its beautiful trails.
- Cost – Primary cost is Air travel, Trek cost is 15-20K based on operator
