- I see itinerary for this trek is completely changed now. There were ecological reservations due to tourist coming in huge numbers here. When we visited, no campsite was allowed between Deoria Tal to Chopta, thus making it longer day and little tough for kids. As per latest itinerary I see on web, this restriction seem to be removed. Hopefully with due considerations on its impact on ecology
- Our Itinerary – Sari (Base Camp) -> Deoria Tal (3-4Km) -> Chopta (10Km) -> Climb to Chandrashila via Tungnath . Refer web for latest on this
- Highlights –
- Famous tourist spot (Chopta), one can shorten/change itinerary as per convenience.
- Good destination for family treks as well as for someone who wish to get started with Himalayan trek. Children above 7 can easily complete the trek.
- Trek is open during winters too, not personally visited, however web has wonderful winter pics.
- Tungnath Temple (highest Shiva temple) Visit

- Careful with horses which carry elderly to Tungnath Temple
- Check for weather prediction. We faced lot of rain, making it very chilly even in summer, thankfully we were prepared for it.

- Can be done throughout the year, not advisable during monsoon.

- STAR Rating – 3/5 if considered compared other trails. 5/5 for family trek or if one is beginner.
